Frequently asked questions

  • CoVid-19 has certainly changed things for us. There are no exceptions, you must be fully vaccinated. Myself and my make up team are vaccinated and we wear masks 100% of the time while we shoot. My make up team has also completed CoVid-19 specific sanitation courses. After each shoot, the studio, equipment, and make up supplies are sanitized. Once we secure our shoot, we will communicate all CoVid-19 protocols to ensure a safe and healthy experience.

  • It is! After working in the studio for almost six years, I have noticed that photoshoots often have the best results when a hair and make up person is able to lend their talents to a shoot.

  • In my opinion, finding a headshot photographer doesn’t require a first date. Coffee dates for headshot sessions don’t usually work with my schedule and all the information we talk about is in the packet we send you to prepare for our shoot. If you’re absolutely set on meeting beforehand, we can discuss setting up a potential FaceTime depending on our schedule. Don’t overthink choosing your headshot photographer and experience- though of course, research is smart and encouraged!

  • If I do, I rarely post them on my website. If you’d like to be kept up to date with discounts, specials, and packages - follow me on Instagram at @themichaelkushner

  • As you might know, each package I offer has a certain number of looks and edits.

    • A look is a vibe or story. For instance… going for the nerd who turns out to be the courageous young hero? We choose an outfit based on that story, can take a jacket or glasses on and off, and shoot within those boundaries.

    • A change is when we change a story, outfit, and / or background.

    • An edit is what is usually called a retouch: removing blemishes, fixing skin tone, stray hairs, etc.

  • Do not overcomplicate it! Bring the amount of looks the package allows plus an extra look or two. Having too many options gets you distracted in the studio. Bring what you love, solids, patterns, colors, weird stuff, conservative stuff… but just make sure you’re telling a story. We’ll talk about that after we set up a date to shoot ;)

  • I don’t! I find those to be impossible to get the real you as it takes time to warm up in front of the camera and get acclimated to the way I photograph. Commit to the awesome packages I offer… you deserve a full and awesome experience.

  • I welcome any artist into the studio. Though if you are under 18, you must be accompanied by an adult.

  • I go into full details on how to prepare for a session with me once you set up and secure a photoshoot date and time. Don’t worry, the information is very detailed and specific! We discuss looks, mindset, cancellation policy, social media and more!

  • If you want to cancel altogether, it must be 48 hours in advance. If it is within the time frame of 48 hours, you are responsible for full payment.

If you want to reschedule, you’ll need to pay in advance the first time, pay a $100 rescheduling fee the second time, and pay for a new shoot the third time. There is a deposit required to secure your photoshoot date, and that is non-refundable.
